Terms and conditions
The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) would like to thank you for your dedication to second-chance hiring and assisting returning citizens with an opportunity to apply for employment prior to returning to the community. As you are aware, there are many challenges a returning citizen faces during the re-entry process. Stable employment is an important part of successful re-entry, and we are excited to connect you with job seekers eager to enter the workforce.
Our goal is to provide returning citizens an opportunity to begin their re-entry process pre-release and to provide you with a dedicated and dependable employee. The individuals applying for the onBoard job postings are those who have made a commitment and are determined to make the final step back into the workforce community. To meet the desired result of transitioning an individual in custody from IDOC to the community, it is necessary for all of us to work together. With your support and cooperation, we will accomplish this by your company/organization agreeing to the following terms:
- Your company/organization is willing to participate in second chance hiring and employment opportunities for individuals with a history of felony convictions.
- Returning citizens who apply with your company/organization will be given the same opportunities as equally qualified community members.
- Returning citizens will be offered equal pay and benefits as the community members you currently employ.
- Returning citizens will be compensated in accordance with federal and state wage laws.
- Returning citizens will be given the same opportunities for advancement and on-the-job training as the community members you currently employ.
- Your company/organization is aware that returning citizens may have parole obligations they must abide by.
- All onBoard communications with returning citizens will be coordinated by IDOC staff while an individual is still in custody.
- All communications with returning citizens will be arranged directly between your company/organization and the job seeker after the individual is released from IDOC custody without the use of onBoard.
- Your company/organization will complete all requirements of the onBoard process for each job posting.
- Re-Entry Administration at IDOC has the right to decline or remove a job posting that does not follow the onBoard rules or regulations.
- Re-Entry Administration at IDOC has the right to suspend or deny your company/organization’s rights to post jobs through your onBoard profile.
